So I was looking up any Linux news stories for the Linux Cranks podcast tonight. I saw a title that confused me - Next Ubuntu Linux Release Could Be in Sept. Now the next Ubuntu will be 8.10 i.e. 2008 month 10 or October. So why are they releasing a month early, and why haven't I heard anything about it?
So I read the story and it said that it is Debian that is coming out - and the page they link to even mentions that. It seems someone at PC Mag doesn't understand the difference. The thing is that the story never even mentions Ubuntu. So I have no idea what is going on there except maybe someone was thinking that because Ubuntu is based on Debian that it is the next version of, like Windows XP is based off the NT side.
Anyway it amused me.
