Live CDs
January 26th, 2011
CD’s I tend to have with me for fixing people’s machine. I removed a lot of the Linux distro’s because I simply didn’t use them, or they didn’t work the way I wanted them to when I did. Knoppix, a staple for years for me didn’t detect some work machines HDs when trying to remove spyware from them. The Ubuntu disk did so I have removed Knoppix from the list.
- Xubuntu – I prefer a Xubuntu Live CD as it runs faster on older hardware
- Damn Small Linux
- Puppy Linux
- ReactOS – a free windows sort of clone ish
Various CDs for Partitioning and repairing Windows machines
- GParted – Partitioner
- Ultimate Boot CD for Windows
- Ultimate Boot CD – DOS programs to check memory, HDs etc
Other Utils
- Backtrack 4 – Pen Testing

- Linux Games ISO – a bunch of games preinstalled on a live linux ISO
- Bart’s PE – A ‘windows’ Live CD (requires a valid license of windows)
